10- to 15-minute Meet-and-Greet tours provide a brief orientation to the museum.

Group Tours: School

• School Group Tour Schedule: Tues.-Fri., 10 AM and 11:15 AM
Tours run approximately 45 minutes
Note: No tours on federal holidays

• Although individual passes are not required for registered school groups, teacher must show confirmation letter for entry.
• School groups are to enter at the museum's south entrance on Maryland Ave.

Tours for Visitors with Hearing or Visual Impairments

Lelawi Theater: "Who We Are": Daily
(walk-in; 4th level)

• Daily, every 20 minutes beginning at 10:20 AM; last show begins at 4:40 PM.

• This unique, 13-minute, multimedia presentation transports visitors to the Arctic, the Northwest coast, and the plateaus of Bolivia to reveal the diversity of contemporary Native life and to introduce themes and messages encountered throughout the museum.
• Translations: Hand-held devices with translations in French, German, Japanese, and Spanish are available from staff who introduce the program.

Note: Lelawi (pronounced le-LAW-wee) is a Lenape/Delaware word meaning "in the middle."

Teaching Carts
Cultural Interpreters present hands-on learning opportunities for museum visitors with objects from the museum's teaching collection, including boats, containers, and sun symbols.

• At various locations in the museum. For times and location, check at the Welcome Desk.

Identity by Design Isnati Family Activity Room
(walk-in; 3rd level, within the exhibition Identity by Design)

(for families with children ages 5-11) A special area where visitors can touch animal hides, design with beads, read stories, and much more.

Through August 3, 2008:
• Daily, 10 AM-5:30 PM

Note: On Family Program days, open all day, but staff available 10:30 AM-3 PM.

Resource Center
(walk-in; 3rd level)

The Resource Center (which includes the Interactive Learning Center with 18 computers) is a public reference area where visitors can learn more about the Native peoples of the Americas and the programs, exhibitions, and collections of the museum. School groups are welcome in the Resource Center.
